Affiliate Genie Review

I decided to do this Affiliate Genie review because I have had a number of people ask me about Affiliate Genie and if they should buy it.  Obviously that is a decision only they can make.  And you should only buy it IF it fits into your business model AND you plan on using it.

This review is not a “fluff” review where I tell you that you have to buy Affiliate Genie because its the best thing since sliced bread and will help you make a million bucks.  It is solely my experience with it, what I like about it and what I don’t like about it.

I have also included a video below for one of my sites so you can see the “behind the scenes” of it.

After you read this and get the information you need, then you can decide if it is something you should buy.

Intro

Affiliate Genie is a website development software created by Chris Rempel aka The Lazy Marketer.  I don’t know all the technicalities behind the software, but it basically runs like a Wordpress website without the database.  I honestly don’t understand why or why not that is even important.  But it is basically touted as a simple website creation software with all the SEO benefits of a Wordpress site, but without all the “clunkiness” of plugins and other things you need to add to Wordpress sites.

Affiliate Genie is designed for affiliate marketers and is ideally suited for review type sites.

What I Like

Once you get the files loaded to your domain (one thing I don’t like, discussed below), it is extremely simple to get your site up and running.  You can watch the video below to see what I mean.  This is ideal if you set-up a number of affiliate sites as it takes a fraction of the time to get them set up compared to using something like XSite Pro or even Wordpress.

I like the fact that each site has a “featured promo” functionality to it that you can show on different sections of the site.  This featured promo is basically your main affiliate product you are promoting and is above the fold on the pages you choose.  That way it is in front of your prospect at all times on the site.

I like the look of the sites too.  The sites, in my opinion, have a polished “professional” look to them that you don’t get with something like XSite Pro.

Another aspect I find highly beneficial is that whenever you add content, you add it through a WYSIWYG interface, which makes it incredibly easy without having to know any HTML (although you can edit and add HTML to your content as well).

Additionally, on each piece of content you add, you add tags and a description to that content for SEO purposes.  This helps the search engines find and categorize your content.  It also has an automatic pinger installed so that your site is pinged just about every time you do an update.

What I Don’t Like

There are 2 primary things I don’t like about Affiliate Genie.  The first is getting it installed on your domain.  It is a bit cumbersome and confusing if you are not very technically savvy (which I am not) and the video that explains how to do it assumes you know what the heck they are talking about.

The install is cumbersome because you basically have to upload the Affiliate Genie files to your domain through Filezilla or other FTP software.  If you know how to do this then great, it should be a breeze.  But if you don’t, it could be difficult.  Not a dealbreaker, but definitely a pain.

The second thing I would change is on the affiliate product content pages.  One cool thing about the software is that when you add a product to promote, you can input your affiliate link and it will automatically cloak it for you.  However, the downside of this is that it bases your cloaked link partly on the name of your page.  So, if you go in and change the name of the page, you have to go in and change all of your affiliate links on that page by hand.  So, it makes sense to choose your page names wisely on the front end.

So, there are a couple of drawbacks, but nothing that can’t be overcome.

Bottom Line

All in all, I like the software.  I create a fair amount of affiliate sites and it has saved me a ton of time in creating these sites.  And the couple of sites I have created with Affiliate Genie, I have been impressed with how quickly they get picked up in the search engines.

I can honestly recommend Affiliate Genie IF you create affiliate sites and want to save time in their creation.
